Success Story: The Long Hike 2023
By now, all the brave and adventurous hikers and their companions have reached the finish line in this year's edition of “The Long Hike”. This is Sweden's longest hiking event for individuals with diverse capabilities.

“Interest has been remarkably high”, as stated by Anders Andrae.
They have all traversed the same path once taken by King Gustav Vasa, though not on skis but with manual wheelchairs, off-road electric wheelchairs, innovative guiding systems, and all-terrain Veloped walkers. Against all setbacks and the rain, they have managed it with success.
The finish line was emotional, and a group of proud and joyful hikers has achieved a remarkable feat. It's all been an unforgettable adventure.
For the third year in a row, Sweden's longest hike for people with diverse abilities was organised. The hike follows the route of Cykelvasan, a summer variation of the classic skiing race Vasaloppet. It stretches over 90 kilometres, divided into eight stages, and runs between Sälen and Mora in Dalarna. The hike followed trails and gravel roads with varied terrains, passing through vast forests, lakes, ponds, and small villages.
Around 30 participants took part in this year's Long Hike. The journey began last Saturday – 29 July – in the Berga Village located in Sälen and concluded on 6 August in Mora.
This year's edition brought a new addition: GPS tracking on the trail, provided by Nordic Evolution. This addition enabled blind hiker Knut Thorstensson to navigate alongside everyone else.
During the hike, four Veloped walkers participated as individuals hiking with Trionics' all-terrain Veloped walkers.

Throughout the Long Hike, all necessary facilities are available when needed. A small backpack is enough luggage for the day's hike, while the rest of the luggage is transported to the next overnight stop. It doesn't get any better than this. Photo: Petter Wallebo
